Future Vision

match: closeness of views matters

Future Vision is each partner's picture of where the relationship is headed: moving in together, making it official, having children — or keeping the current format. What's measured is how closely the scenarios match, not whether either of them is 'right'.

This is the territory of the classic deal-breaker topics: a shared household, marriage, children. A mismatch here isn't a matter of skill or effort but of different life plans, and no amount of 'working on the relationship' turns 'I want kids' and 'I don't' into an arithmetic mean.

That's why the scale type is 'match'. A couple where neither partner wants marriage or a shared household is fully in tune — their scenario is simply a different one. A wide gap, though, is something the formula shows honestly, without masking it behind an 'average' score that would look like 'everything's fine'.

For couples at the very start of a relationship these questions measure a current orientation rather than a firm mismatch — the report takes the couple's tenure into account and presents this scale more gently.

How LoveScore measures it

A 'match' dimension: the couple score is computed from the difference between the partners' answers — the closer their pictures of the future, the higher it is. Each partner's individual position is kept separately, so the report doesn't confuse 'we agree' with what exactly you agree on: matching on 'we want a family' and on 'we're happy without formalities' are different scenarios with an equally high score.

The wording of the test questions isn't published here: questions read in advance skew the answers — and with them, the couple's report.

Related archetypes

For these archetypes, Future Vision is the lead dimension: Long Haul. No archetype is better or worse than the others — they're different styles of being in a relationship.
