The 12 archetypes: how you love
An archetype in LoveScore is a portrait of how you love: what switches on first for you in a relationship — trust, conversation, sensitivity, reliability, or the need for space of your own. It's not a horoscope and not a verdict: your archetype is built only on your answers, and it describes a strength, not the fate of your couple.
Each partner gets an archetype of their own. LoveScore — couple compatibility test — shows both portraits side by side in the shared report, which makes it easier to see how you complement each other. No archetype is “better” than another, and we deliberately don't rank archetype pairings against each other: each one describes a way of loving, not a place in a league table.
How your archetype is determined
It all starts with your profile across the relationship dimensions. One detail matters: we compare your sides with each other, not with a “norm” or a population average. The lead dimension is the one that stands out noticeably above the rest in your own profile. From there, one of three rules applies:
A lead dimension
If one dimension clearly outpaces the rest, the archetype is determined by it. That's how eight archetypes work — from Open Book (Trust) to Long Haul (Future Vision).
A combo of two dimensions
Three combinations produce a qualitatively new portrait that isn't just the sum of its parts: Warm Hedgehog (Empathy + Togetherness & Space), Open Sky (Trust + Peace of Mind) and Lightning Rod (Communication + Emotional Maturity).
A balanced profile
If the spread between your sides is smaller than one step of the answer scale, singling out a “lead” would be a stretch. That profile gets an archetype of its own — Steady Flame.
The rule is fully deterministic: identical answers always produce the same archetype. How the scoring works, why scores are normalized against your own average and why we don't use population norms — see the methodology. Your partner's view of you (Partner Responsiveness) doesn't feed into the archetype: it's a view of another person, not your own trait.
